Star Trek Movie Review or J.J. Abrams, What Were You Thinking?!

So last night I saw Star Trek, and I'm pretty much convinced that high fructose corn syrup has addled the brains of a majority of Americans, because this movie was pretty gosh darn awful. The dialogue was ridiculous, the storyline was uninspired, and even the set looked cheap. How did this manage to get a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes?!? When it came down to it, Star Trek was about the eye candy, and if I really wanted eye candy I would have saved my $12 and watched an episode of Gossip Girl.

  1. I think that you are looking to get too much out of an action movie. I mean Star Wars Episode 4 had ridiculous dialogue and in many ways was unoriginal. I think Star Trek was a whole lot of fun (especially if you watched the original series and knew the characters). If you are looking to find the meaning of life from a film, I'd stay clear of the action flicks and rent Synecdoche New York.

  2. You make a good point. And I will admit it was fun to see younger versions of Kirk, Spock, et al. But I don't think I was expecting too much from Star Trek. I was just expecting it to be more on par with Iron Man and The Dark Knight-- both of which were awesome action movies.
